A remote high plateau of peat gullies, gritstone and restoration work, approached on the Pennine Way from Longdendale.
Bleaklow Head lies on the 633 m plateau between Glossop and Longdendale. Its peat gullies and scattered gritstone give it a very different character from the limestone dales. Moors for the Future has restored extensive areas of bare peat here. This is a remote hillwalking destination requiring confident navigation.

Details and coordinates can be incomplete or out of date. Check current access, conditions, weather and your route with the site operator before travelling. This is not live navigation or emergency guidance.

Approach
Use the Longdendale Trail west to the Pennine Way crossing by the B6105, then follow the Pennine Way uphill through Torside Clough towards Bleaklow Head. This reverses the National Trails descent description; plan the complete outward and return route on a map.
Walking time from arrival (one way)
Not yet checked. Please confirm before your visit.
Terrain & steps
Steep stony climbing, a narrow exposed clough edge, stream crossings, peat gullies and boggy moorland.
Accessibility
Rough mountain terrain and exposure make this a demanding approach. A continuous step-free route has not been verified.
Access & restrictions
Stay on established routes and observe current access notices. Carry a map and compass and know how to use them.
Seasonal considerations
Mist, wind, rain and winter conditions can change the difficulty sharply. Check the forecast and leave enough daylight for the return.
Approach uses the Torside side of the National Trails route in reverse. The summit pin is the surveyed high point; the familiar cairn and marker pole are nearby. No one-way time or whole-visit range is inferred.
